Emergency Medicine Opportunity at Langley Air Force Base is among the oldest continuously active air bases in the United States. Langley AFB is located three miles north of the city of Hampton in the Tidewater Virginia Hampton Roads region.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Royster Group, Inc. is seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician to provide healthcare support to our active-duty soldiers and their families at Langley-Eustis Air Force Base, VA.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform a full range of physician services in accordance with privileges granted by the Hospital/Military Treatment Facility (MTF).
  • Direct, perform or assist in the instruction of other health care professionals within the scope of the clinical privileges or responsibilities.
  • Examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and privileges.
  • Provide preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.
  • Order diagnostic tests as applicable as well as request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.
  • Technically proficient in directing and teaching other medical staff, providing educational lectures and participating in the provision of in-service training to clinic staff members. Such direction and interaction will adhere to Government and professional clinical standards and accepted clinical protocols.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES include but not limited to the following:

  • The Emergency Medicine Physician shall remain on-shift until the relief physician arrives. He/she shall ensure that continuity of care is provided to all patients.
  • The quality of Emergency Medicine Physician service shall meet or exceed reasonable community standards of professional practice for the healthcare concerned as determined by the authority that governs military medical professionals in the same discipline.
  • Be capable of performing the full range of emergency medicine services to include the ability and experience to adequately diagnose and treat diseases and injuries.
  • Eight to ten, 10 hour shifts monthly, both day and night, in a 24/7 low-acuity Emergency Department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.).
  • Graduate from an accredited medical school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) at the time the degree was obtained (e.g. Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
  • Current board certification by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
  • Successful completion of an approved Emergency Medicine (EM) residency acceptable to the USAF Surgeon General and board eligible/certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) or American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 2 years of emergency medicine experience within the last 3 years.
  • Physicians shall meet the experience, training, and certification requirements for the appropriate level of emergency medical staff physician in accordance with regulations

LICENSURE:

  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state in which a license is held.
  • Current with and have completed all continuing education requirements specified by their professional licensure or certification.
  • Must be current with and have completed all continuing education (CME) requirements specified by their professional licensure or certification.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification. Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Certification cards must display the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross or Military Training Network emblem. Web-based classes do not meet required standards.
