Senior Medical Director  Pittsburgh PA

 

 

Overview of Position

Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, the Senior Medical Director will partner with cross-functional teams and senior leaders to ensure that medical center leads the industry in innovative health management strategies and is considered an expert in the field of post-acute care. The medical director will take a customized approach to clinical design in the field and be responsible for continuously reshaping the medical center care delivery programs in order to drive predictable and meaningful results across clients and populations. The ideal candidate will be a physician leader with a proven track record of innovation, achievement of measurable goals, and exceptional clinical competencies. Tasked with continuously evaluating and innovating existing programs, the Senior Medical Director will use a metrics-driven approach to drive the successful implementation and adoption of clinical protocols across care settings with a variety of stakeholders. The Senior Medical Director will serve as the expert on clinical competencies, often times taking part in sales meetings and maintaining relationships with client CMO’s post-sale to ensure continued service and support from the clinical side of the house.

 

 

 

Primary Responsibilities

 • Contribute to and collaborate with health services team to drive strategic initiatives, address areas of concern, and monitor progress toward goals

• Perform ongoing reviews and assessments of Care Management Model and collaborate with the health services team to improve quality outcomes and drive down costs

• Re-evaluate and assess on an ongoing basis Readmission Avoidance Program and make recommendations for improvement

• Provide input on local needs for analytics and client services teams in order to better enhance product and services

• Meet regularly with medical directors to review care coordination issues, develop collaborative intervention plans, and share ideas about network management issues

• Collaborate with medical directors and client services team to ensure coordinated approach to delivery system providers

• Communicate effectively with network and non-network providers to ensure the successful administering of services

• Respond to clinical inquiries and serve as a non-promotional medical contact point for various healthcare providers

• Provide leadership and guidance to maximize cost management through close coordination with all network and provider contracting

• Interact, communicate and collaborate with network and community physicians, hospital leaders, and other vendors regarding care and service for enrollees, educating them on designated care plans and ensuring the successful implementation of programs in the field

 

 

 

Qualifications

• MD required

• 10+ years of experience practicing in an acute inpatient environment, ideally in an environment where dealing with managed care organizations makes up at least half of inpatient practice

• Self-driven, team-oriented clinical strategist with extensive experience in population health management, especially as it relates to post-acute care and the Medicare population

• Uses a metrics-driven approach to analyze cost, quality and satisfaction data and drive clinical strategy and program redesign

• Collaborative and able to work cross-functionally across an organization to accomplish goals

• Possesses a firm understanding of quality improvement and clinical care management in a variety of environments, as well as value-based reimbursement and the changing landscape of healthcare reimbursement models

• Strong interpersonal skills and polish; able to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with other clinicians, senior management, patients and their families, and all levels of medical and non-medical professionals

• Comfortable with and excited by the prospect of working in a small company with massive growth potential

 

Salary range $250k/year, w/ 30% annual bonus
