The hospital's emergency room annually records nearly 31,000 visits, and during the past decade, the volume in the Hospital's Short Procedure Unit has nearly doubled. It is a colonial city in southeast Pennsylvania that is rich with history. The area boasts a low unemployment rate and steady growth, with several large industrial companies located in the area. The Lehigh Valley area has a total of 36 parks and recreation centers and more than 20 golf courses. There are more than 20 art galleries, museums and exhibit centers.
