Job Description

The position available offers full time employment with benefits. Commencing in the next few weeks, we anticipate that the Service will have a block schedule of 5 days on/5 days off. Schedules will be on a rotation basis, so that approximately every 7 weeks the physician may do a night shift rotation. Where physicians prefer to work nights, those requests will be honored, thus reducing the number of night shift rotations for the other physicians. Some scheduling/staffing models are in the decision-making process, so there may be a change to the staffing model. The salary for a full time Hospitalist is currently under review with Cogent’s assistance. The wages will be at least $160,000 per year with a complete benefit package for health, dental, life, disability and malpractice insurance. There is also a qualified pension plan. Annual CME allowance is $1,500. There will be no accrued leave time benefits due to the 5 on 5 off work schedule. Compensation is currently under study to compensate physicians for the lack of earned time accruals. If we move to that model, the base will increase to pay the physicians in lieu of earning vacation time, etc. We will also be implementing a bonus structure with bonus potential in the vicinity of $15,000 per year. The Medical Center is located in the foothills of the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts. Outstanding private schools are available at all levels (elementary, secondary, college); additionally, excellent public colleges are available in close proximity to the Medical Center. The cost of living in Western Massachusetts is significantly less than eastern Massachusetts and surrounding states. The Medical Center is located at the junction of major north/south and east/west highway systems for ease in traveling to the cities and shore.
