Pediatrics-Critical Care Hospital Based job located in Iowa
University of Iowa Stead Family Department of Pediatrics seeks a Director for the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. Appointment rank may be at either the tenure track or clinical (non-tenure) track at the Associate Professor or Professor level consistent with clinical experience and research interest. The Director will lead the division’s clinical and educational services as well as provide leadership to our growing Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The Director will benefit from institutional resources and will have the opportunity to expand both the clinical and interdisciplinary research program.
Must hold an MD/DO degree, or equivalent
Board certified Pediatrics, or equivalent
Board certified in Critical Care Medicine or equivalent
License or eligible for licensure in the State of Iowa
Demonstrated record of teaching
Commitment to diversity in the work place
5 or more years of experience in clinical practice of pediatric critical care medicine
Administrative and fiscal leadership experience
Experience in an academic health system
Experience in cardiac critical care medicine
Participation in quality improvement initiatives
Experience in patient-oriented research
Evidence of scholarly activity
Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

The ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program at the Children’s Hospital trains 47 pediatric residents. An ACGME-accredited pediatric critical care fellowship program trains 2 fellows per year.
The Stead Family Department of Pediatrics comprises the medical and research staff of University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, one of the nation’s top-ranked pediatric care and research institutions. It is the only university-affiliated hospital in Iowa devoted solely to the care of infants, children, adolescents and young adults, and is Iowa’s only accredited Level 1 Regional Resource Pediatric Trauma Center. In 2019-2020 University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital ranked in six pediatric specialties in the Best Children’s Hospitals U.S. News and World Report, including cancer, neonatology, nephrology, endocrinology/diabetes, orthopedics, and urology. We are the only hospital in Iowa to be nationally ranked by U.S. News and World Report for children’s care. A new 190-bed children’s hospital opened in February 2017, which includes a 28-bed PICU.
