The facility is part of a large hospital system and supports both inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular disease management on an on-site basis. The facility is structured to accommodate locum tenens clinicians providing day shift, call, and 24-hour call coverage across inpatient and outpatient settings. Clinicians are required to rotate to several outreach clinic locations nearby as a component of this assignment.

Mason City, Iowa is a Midwest destination recognized for its architecture, music heritage, and arts. The area is home to attractions such as Music Man Square, the Historic Park Inn Hotel, the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum, and the Meredith Willson Boyhood Home. Outdoor recreation is available at Lime Creek Nature Center, which features walking trails and wildlife just outside the city.

Clinicians serving in the Doctor of the Week (DOW) role will provide inpatient cardiovascular disease management on an on-site basis, with responsibilities including rounding on cardiology patients, admitting, and discharging within the inpatient setting. Reading responsibilities rotate through the echo doctor role, supporting echocardiogram and nuclear reading with fellows, as well as EKG and heart monitor interpretation. When on the DOW service, clinicians are also responsible for performing TEEs and cardioversions. Call coverage is required, with a weekday rotation of 1:4 and a weekend rotation of 1:5 or 1:6. Clinicians will additionally rotate to several outreach clinic locations as part of the assignment.
