Coverage Details
 -- Open dates: November 5-18
 -- Credentialing timeframe: 30-60 days (temporary privileges available)
 -- Coverage needed due to provider vacancy and increased endoscopy demand

Shift Description
 -- Beeper call
 -- Average patients seen: 4-6
 -- Call back percentage: 10-15%
 -- Evaluate inpatient consults from the prior night
 -- Additional GI lab procedures as needed following consultations
 -- Coverage for inpatient consults and procedures

Requirements
 -- Board Certified in Gastroenterology
 -- Fellowship
 -- Active Texas license
 -- ABLS
 -- ACLS
 -- ATLS
 -- BLS

Procedures / Skills Required
 -- Upper GI endoscopy and biopsy
 -- Foreign body removal
 -- Fulguration of bleeders
 -- Injection of varices
 -- ERCP (Diagnostic and Therapeutic) + with PEG
 -- Esophageal dilatation and manometry
 -- Small bowel biopsy
 -- Lower GI endoscopy
 -- Sigmoidoscopy (Flexible and rigid)
 -- Colonoscopy (biopsy + polypectomy)
 -- Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)
 -- Liver biopsy
 -- Sengstaken/Blakemore tube management

Assignment Details
 -- Will perform scheduled colonoscopies Monday through Friday
 -- Current team structure includes GI physicians and advanced practice providers
 -- Clinic support includes NPs and PA-C staff performing pre- and post-procedure workups
 -- Hospitalist service manages primary medical care until GI consultation is completed
 -- No resident or teaching supervision required
 -- Patients per shift: 4-7
 -- Admissions required
 -- Rounding required
 -- Trauma Level I facility
 -- PEDs Level II facility
 -- EMR: Epic
