This inpatient hospital in Alaska maintains established clinical protocols and appropriate resources to support quality inpatient care delivery for an adult patient population. The facility operates a closed ICU model with an on-staff intensivist and seeks locum tenens hospitalist coverage on an ongoing basis. Site directors will conduct phone interviews with potential locum clinicians to address questions prior to placement.

Anchorage is an urban city in Southcentral Alaska that provides access to outdoor activities such as kayaking, hiking, wildlife viewing, and glacier tours within an hour or two of the city. The area serves as a base for exploring nearby destinations, including Kenai Fjords National Park, Katmai National Park, and Turnagain Arm, with transportation options ranging by car, train, and day cruise. Clinicians on assignment may also engage with local culture through live music, markets, and community events held throughout the year.

Clinicians will provide inpatient hospitalist coverage during 12-hour day shifts (6:00 AM - 6:00 PM) and night shifts (6:00 PM - 6:00 AM) on an on-site basis at a hospital in Alaska. The patient census ranges from 90-95, with individual clinician patient loads of 18-22 patients per shift, consisting of adult inpatient medical conditions; the ICU is a closed unit managed by an on-staff intensivist, and no procedures are required of the hospitalist. Documentation is conducted using EPIC EMR, and clinicians must be willing to work 7 consecutive shifts, preferably 2 weeks per month. Board certification in ABIM or Family Medicine and prescriptive authority are required for this locum tenens assignment.
