Nocturnist Opening in Southern Rhode Island

A 100-bed acute-care community hospital in southern Rhode Island is adding a Nocturnist to its team. We have earned numerous distinctions for patient care and safety over the years, including a 5-star HCAHPS rating, a 5-star CMS rating for overall hospital quality, and A’s for hospital quality and patient safety from The Leapfrog Group.

About the Opportunity:

• Full-time is 12 night shifts per month
• This is a collegial hospital-employed group with a longstanding history of low provider turnover at an independently-operated non-profit community hospital
• Hours are 7:00 PM-7:00 AM
• A Hospitalist Admitter is scheduled daily from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM and provides a two-hour overlap with the start of the nocturnist shift.
• Meditech EMR with Vocera Secure Messaging, with an upcoming upgrade to Epic EMR and an agentic AI/Scribe implementation.
• Responsible for overnight admissions/consults to hospital medicine services.
• Volume is typically 5-10 admission/consults per evening.
• Responsible for overnight inpatient hospital medicine cross-coverage, with an average overnight inpatient census of 40–50.
• Open ICU with 24/7 Intensivist coverage.
• No requirement for procedures, lines, intubation, or ventilator management.
