Job Description

A critical access hospital in south-central Iowa, an hour south of Des Moines, is seeking a board-certified Internal Medicine physician leader to serve as Medical Director as we look to initiate new programs. You will help build streamlined care coordination and quality processes, play a hand in developing primary care, and keep time in the clinic at a level that fits you.

Position Overview:

  • Shape how care is coordinated across the clinic, hospital, hospitalists and visiting specialists, so patients move through the system have fewer gaps and handoffs
  • Lead quality efforts with hospital leadership, including clinical standards, metrics and ongoing improvement
  • Flexibility in direct patient care hours, with a mix of clinical and leadership time that can be tailored to fit your preferences
  • Join a hospital with 24-hour emergency services, in-house hospitalists and a broad range of outpatient specialty clinics
  • Generous compensation and benefits package includes salary of $350k+ (negotiable), up to $120k sign-on bonus and IPERS pension plan
  • 5+ years experience practicing preferred; no prior medical directorship necessary
