Academic Chair of Internal Medicine Position - Northeastern North Carolina

Medical Center is seeking an Academic Chair of Internal Medicine physician
-- Employed position; reports to the executive dean of the medical school
-- Minimum 10 years of academic healthcare leadership experience required; experience working with senior medical school, hospital, and organizational executives required
-- Responsible for all planning, policy, operations, and oversight of academic, clinical, and research programs for the department
-- Oversees all patient care activities and quality of care for a large internal medicine department
-- Financial authority over state-appropriated budget, extramural research funding, practice plan revenues and expenses, and philanthropic funding
-- Leads clinical programs including quality of care, credentialing participation, new program development, and practice plan budget management
-- Administers clinical faculty compensation plan in accordance with relevant policies
-- Serves as Executive Medical Committee Department Chair; leads clinical function for the specialty including medical staff appointment, privileging, and peer review
-- Oversees formal academic program and curricular design for medical students
-- Leads all research programs; supervises faculty scientific investigative work; ensures regulatory compliance and high-quality publications
-- Manages research space allocation and monitors intramural and extramural research funding
-- Leads faculty and staff recruitment, retention, mentorship, and resource allocation
-- Leads departmental budget planning and integrates department initiatives with school and university strategic plans
-- Ensures departmental compliance with all applicable administrative policies and procedures
