Coverage Details

Shift Description
-- 20–22 shifts per month
-- Monday–Friday clinic schedule
-- One weekend per month

Call Details
-- Day call rotation: 1:3 (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
-- Night call rotation: 1:4 (5:00 PM – 8:00 AM)
-- Weekend call rotation: 1:4

Requirements
-- Board Certified
-- Active Iowa license
-- No new graduates accepted

Assignment Details
-- Inpatient behavioral health and hospital consult coverage
-- Adult and adolescent patient population (ages 8+)
-- Disorders treated include psychotic disorders, substance-related disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, delirium, dementia, cognitive disorders, life cycle and adjustment disorders, childhood disorders, and somatoform/factitious disorders
-- ED consults and admissions averaging 2 per day
-- Three behavioral health units with a total of 36 beds
-- Average daily census: 18 patients
-- Average inpatient volume: 10–15 patients per day
-- Average clinic volume: 14 adults and 4 adolescents daily
-- Patient rooms utilized for examinations
-- Collaborative team environment including psychiatrists, APPs, nurses, social workers, recreational therapists, utilization management nurse, and discharge planners
-- Psychiatrist supervision provided; co-signature required
-- Nursing ratio: 1:5
-- Behavioral health technician ratio: 1:13
-- Teaching opportunities available with nursing students, OT students, and family medicine residents
-- Onsite medical imaging, lab, and pharmacy services available
-- Level III trauma facility
-- Cerner EMR transitioning to Epic on September 26, 2026
