Vascular Surgery NP Locums Job in New York | 40 Hours/Week With Rotating Nights and Weekends | Beginning ASAP - Ongoing | Assignment #117413
Coverage Details
-- Coverage dates: ASAP - ongoing, likely 6 months
-- Credentialing timeframe: 90 days (Temporary privileging available)
Shift Details
-- Standard Full-Time: 40 hours per week (with potential for 36 hours via 3×12-hour shifts when fully staffed)
-- Flexible mix of 10- or 12-hour shifts. Typical coverage times include:
---- Day: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
---- Mid: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
---- Night: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
-- Night and weekend shifts are required in-house coverage and rotated across the team (these scheduled hours do not count as call)
-- Call expectation is typically 1–2 days per week
-- May require staying past scheduled shift times to cover the OR or taking home phone/beeper call
Requirements
-- ANCC/AANP; NP must have RNFA
-- Active New York State license
-- Active BLS
-- Active DEA
-- Active ACLS
Required Procedures / Skills
-- 2-3 years of vascular surgery experience; candidates with cardiac surgery experience that included cross-coverage of vascular surgery may be considered
-- Must be comfortable with open vascular cases including peripheral bypass, carotid surgery, AV fistula creation, and open abdominal aortic surgery
-- Bedside procedures may include suturing, permcath removal, wound vacs, dressing changes, and wound care
Assignment Details
-- 24/7 service coverage is shared among 7–8 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
-- Directly cover 5 surgeons' patients and surgeries with first assisting and floor coverage
-- Dedicated full-time team of NPs and PAs who have all been there at least 5 years with minimal turnover
-- Coverage is for FTE coverage while searching for a permanent provider
-- 100% inpatient hospital-based practice
-- Adult and geriatric patient population
-- Typical census is 15-20 patients total, with individual rounding on 3-5 patients/day
-- Average OR volume is approximately 7-8 cases/day, with a mix of rounding and OR coverage
-- Facility is not trauma designated
-- Inpatient medical management and rounding, including diabetes, hypertension, acute illness, and pre- and post-operative vascular surgical care
-- First assisting in the OR for approximately 5 surgeons
-- Vascular surgery only with no cross-specialty coverage
-- No IR procedures
-- Approximately 450-bed hospital with a very busy, high-acuity vascular surgery service
