We are launching a brand-new OB-GYN Hospitalist program at Sequoia Hospital and are seeking an experienced OB-GYN Hospitalist Medical Director to lead the development and long-term success of this program. Medical Director Role OverviewAs Medical Director, you will serve as the clinical leader and architect of this new OB-GYN Hospitalist program. You will partner closely with hospital leadership and Stanford-affiliated specialists to ensure a high-performing, collaborative, and patient-centered service. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and oversight for the OB-GYN hospitalist team
  • Lead program development, including workflows, protocols, and team culture
  • Drive quality improvement, patient safety, and performance metrics
  • Collaborate with hospital administration, nursing leadership, and community OB/GYNs
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and mentorship of hospitalist providers
  • Ensure compliance with clinical standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices
Clinical Practice Highlights
  • Schedule: 24-hour, in-house shifts
  • Team Structure: 1 Medical Director + 4 OB-GYN Hospitalists
  • Scope of Practice:
    • OB and GYN triage and surgery
    • Labor & delivery management
    • Obstetric and gynecologic emergencies
    • Inpatient consults
Clinical Environment
  • Hospital Deliveries: about 1,200 births annually
  • 24-hour in-house anesthesia
  • Interventional radiology
  • Level II NICU with Medical Director support from Stanford
  • Maternal-Fetal Medicine collaboration with Stanford specialists
  • Team-based care alongside experienced community OB/GYNs and nursing staff

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For
  • Board-certified OB-GYN
  • Active California license (or ability to obtain)
  • 5 years of clinical experience preferred
  • Prior leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Passion for building programs, mentoring providers, and driving clinical excellence
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills


Benefits and Compensation

Pay Range Based on Hours: Annual compensation is $312,000 - $438,000. Medical Director stipend is $25,000.Regular full-time is classified as team members who are consistently scheduled and work 30 hours or more on a weekly basis.
