Coverage Details

Shift Details
-- 24-hour cardiothoracic surgery call coverage
-- Weekday and weekend coverage based on the monthly schedule
-- Must respond by phone within 15 minutes during assigned call coverage
-- Must be able to present to the hospital within 30 minutes when required

Requirements
-- Board Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) 
-- Active unrestricted Florida license or eligibility for Florida licensure
-- BLS, ACLS
-- Current DEA registration, as applicable

Required Procedures / Skills
-- Surgical first-assist support for adult cardiothoracic procedures, including CABG, valve repair/replacement, aortic procedures, and thoracic procedures
-- Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH), including saphenous vein conduit harvesting for CABG, or ability to demonstrate competency

Assignment Details
-- Patient volume: 30
-- EMR: Meditech, Patient Keeper, eCW
-- Provider will support the hospital-based cardiothoracic surgery service
-- Emergency call coverage, inpatient consultations, emergency department consultations, and operative coverage
-- Evaluate and manage postoperative patients
-- Provide inpatient consultations
-- Remain available for emergent consultations and operative cases throughout assigned 24-hour call periods
-- Coverage includes collaboration with Trauma Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Critical Care/Intensivists, and Radiology as appropriate
