Job Description

Psychiatry Physician | Anchorage, Alaska


Position Overview



  • Provide psychiatric consultation and evaluation for patients throughout the hospital.

  • Serve a diverse patient population including children, adolescents, adults, and older adults.

  • Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, social workers, crisis clinicians, and other healthcare professionals.

  • Practice in a hospital setting with no inpatient psychiatric unit, allowing you to focus exclusively on consultation-liaison psychiatry.

  • Evaluate and manage psychiatric conditions in medically complex patients across medical and surgical services.

  • Collaborate with specialty services including trauma and burn surgery, orthopedics, intensive care, mother-baby/OB, pediatrics, and emergency medicine.

  • Partner with Master's-level Crisis Clinicians who provide 24/7 Emergency Department behavioral health coverage.

  • Manage an average of 5–7 consults per day, including approximately 1–2 new consultations daily.

  • Participate in shared call coverage only when assigned to the call rotation; in-person call-ins are rare.


Compensation and Benefits



  • Base Salary: $300K–$375K, based on training and experience

  • Relocation Assistance: $30,000

  • Sign-On Bonus: 10% of base salary

  • Annual Increase: Potential for annual base salary increase based on performance

  • Contract: 2-year commitment with option to renew and eligibility for a retention bonus

  • PTO: Accrued bi-weekly with the ability to bank hours

  • Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with employer match (vested after 12 months), disability coverage, and optional 457(b) deferred compensation plan


Qualifications



  • Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school

  • Residency: Completion of an ACGME-accredited Psychiatry residency program

  • Licensure: Eligible for or currently holds an Alaska medical license

  • Board Certification: Board-certified or board-eligible in Psychiatry

  • Experience: Clinical experience in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and medication management

  • Skills: Strong clinical judgment, communication, collaboration, and patient-centered care skills
