Job Description

Saint Louis University School of Medicine and SSM Health Academic Division seek an accomplished academic rheumatologist to serve as Division Director of Rheumatology. The incoming leader will oversee one of the Midwest's most established rheumatology programs within the Department of Internal Medicine, the largest department at SLU School of Medicine.

Division of Rheumatology - Saint Louis University School of Medicine/SSM Health Academic Division:
  • 5 faculty - needing to grow by double to accomodate service need
  • Currently covers 3 locations and 7,500 patients annually across the greater St. Louis area with a clear opportunity to expand the service line throughout SSM Health's multi-state network
  • Established in 1955, the comprehensive rheumatology program at Saint Louis Unversity is one of the nation's longstanding academic medical centers advancing patient care, education, and research
  • Strong academic foundation with nationally recognized fellowship training and an active research enterprise with history of NIH-funding and major registry participation

    The incoming Division Director will:
  • Provide strategic, operational, and academic direction for the Division in order to advance clinical excellence, quality, and program growth across the enterprise.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop faculty while fostering a culture of collaboration and engagement.
  • Strengthen educational and research programs, including fellowship training, clinical investigation, and scholarly activity.
  • Promote interdisciplinary partnerships across Saint Louis University, SLUCare, and SSM Health.
  • Enhance the Division's regional and national reputation through innovation, academic achievement, and program development.
