Primary Care Physician / Athletics Medical Director

Division I Athletics | University of Wyoming | Laramie, Wyoming

The University of Wyoming is seeking a Primary Care Physician / Athletics Medical Director to join its nationally respected Sports Medicine team in beautiful Laramie, Wyoming. This is an exceptional opportunity to combine clinical practice, leadership, and Division I athletics while making a lasting impact on the health and performance of student-athletes.

Position Highlights

?? Care for Division I Student-Athletes
Provide comprehensive sports medicine and primary care services to Wyoming Cowboys and Cowgirls, NCAA student-athletes, rodeo athletes, spirit squad members, and the broader university community.

?? Leadership Opportunity
Serve as the Athletics Medical Director, providing medical oversight for athletic trainers and collaborating with coaches, sports performance staff, and university leadership to deliver outstanding care.

?? A Dynamic Practice
This role includes:

  • Sideline coverage for Division I athletic events
  • Concussion evaluation and management
  • Emergency sports medicine care
  • Team travel for select athletic events
  • Injury prevention and return-to-play decision making
  • Building long-term relationships with student-athletes

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting salary of $230,000+ (commensurate with experience)

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • MD or DO
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine
  • Sports Medicine experience (Sports Medicine Fellowship preferred)
  • Passion for caring for collegiate athletes and active young adults
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaborative skills
