Cardiothoracic Surgery Locums Job in Louisiana | 24-hour Weekend Call Coverage Starting October 2026 & Ongoing

We’re working with a facility in Louisiana looking for a Cardiothoracic Surgeon to provide 24-hour call coverage beginning October 2026 & ongoing. The need is mainly weekends, with sporadic holiday needs & extended coverage blocks available every so often as well. This is a streamlined assignment with 100% call coverage and no clinic, supporting a CT Surgery service line at a 290+ bed hospital using Epic EMR. 

Specific dates of coverage needed:
* Will need to arrive 1 business day in advance to your first shift to do training + orientation 
* Friday October 9 at 7AM - Monday, October 12 at 7AM 
* Friday, November 13 at 7AM - Monday, November 16 at 7AM 
* Thursday, November 26 at 7AM - Monday, November 30 at 7AM (Thanksgiving weekend)
* Thursday, December 24 at 7AM - Friday, December 25 at 7AM (Christmas Eve only)
* Monday, December 28 at 7AM - Thursday, December 31 at 7AM (end call on New Years Eve AM)

Coverage Details for Assignment #116665:
-- Board Certification + active, unrestricted Louisiana medical license & DEA required
-- Willing to consider candidates that are actively enrolled with the IMLC
-- Covering CT Surgery Service Line (must be able to do full scope of CT Surgery)
-- 100% 24-hour call coverage only - no clinic/outpatient coverage needs
-- Daily inpatient volume: will see between 10-15 patients/day (to include rounding on attached & unattached patients and covering the ED for new consults, emergent cases, etc.)
-- Weekly surgical case volume: can anticipate doing 7-10 cases / week 
-- 7AM - 7AM start & end time 
-- Facility cancels clinic when using locums coverage, however, the locums surgeon may need to look at a post op patient’s incision occasionally when covering weekday shifts
-- One NP that assists with weekday patient rounding, etc. (Not OR based) - will be present on Friday's until 5P
-- Hospital details: 290+ bed facility, Level III Trauma Designation, Epic EMR
