General Surgery Locums Job in Kentucky | 24 Hour Call | Beginning  2027 - Ongoing | Assignment #117629

Coverage Details
-- Coverage dates: 2027 coverage, exact dates TBD
-- Credentialing timeframe: Can emergency credential

Shift Details
-- 7am-7am (24 hour shifts)
-- Weekend call coverage, rounding on inpatients with surgery consults
-- Average worked Callback Hours:  1.5 hours

Requirements
-- Board Certified
-- Kentucky License
-- General Surgery Residency
-- ACLS/BLS
-- DEA
-- Clean malpractice history
-- Availability at time of name clear
-- PALS - Highly Preferred

Required Procedures / Skills
-- General surgery
-- Some GI procedures

Assignment Details
-- Hospital call coverage only, including Emergency ED calls for patients needing General 
Surgery evaluation, inpatient rounding, and surgical procedures
-- Weekend call coverage, rounding on inpatients with surgery consults
-- Average worked callback hours: 1.5 hours
-- Number of admissions can vary based on what is seen in the ER, but the average is about 3 within a 24 hour period
-- Patient volume varies based on needs and census
-- Patient population: Adolescent (12-13, case by case depending on need), Adult, Geriatric
-- EMR: Epic
-- Support staff: OR call team, hospitalist, inpatient nursing
-- Reason for coverage: Surgeon vacation
-- Types of cases include general surgery and GI
-- Conditions may include appendectomies, colon-related issues, resections, wounds, dysphagia, gallbladder issues, and GI bleeds
-- Procedures could include Colonoscopy, EGD, and depending on the situation, laparoscopic procedures
