Family Practice Physician- Medical Director Big Sur, CA
Full-time or Part time, NO Call
We are looking for a compassionate Family Practice or Internal Medicine (with pediatrics) physician to join our medical practice in Big Sur, CA. We are a small, non-profit community health center in a beautiful, rural setting on the Big Sur coast with a culturally and socioeconomically diverse patient population. This position is a medical director position, as well as practicing physician, seeing patients in the office. We are looking for someone to join us either full- time or part time, and we are flexible on the days. Telehealth is also part of our practice. Our ideal candidate would appreciate working in a very small, rural clinic, where our patients and staff are known and treated like family. We are seeking a physician who is positive and enthusiastic, knowledgeable, a good team player with high attention to detail who enjoys collaborating with coworkers for comprehensive patient care. Basic communication skills/bilingual in Spanish is preferred and you must be able to see patients of all ages. In addition to possessing good clinical skills, we are seeking a physician who will be invested in our patient family long term.
About us:
We are a small, rural health clinic that has been proudly serving the community of Big Sur since 1979. Our belief is that health care should be available to everyone. We provide care for patients of all ages, for a wide range of services -including women health and children’s health services. We accept most major insurance plans including Medicare and Medi-Cal and participate in a variety of subsidized and sliding scale programs. We provide both preventive and urgent care, minor surgical procedures and basic laboratory and pharmaceutical services. Our goal is to provide high-quality, comprehensive, personalized services through holistic approaches that focus on patient needs, helping to empower individuals to reach their highest levels of well-being. We have a dynamic team of 2 NPs, an RN, an MA and amazing front office support staff collaborating to provide the best care possible.
Duties:
- Evaluation- Patient care (exam, HPI, review pertinent medical records/imaging) approx. 15 patients per day
- Interprets examination findings, diagnostic and test results, and implements appropriate treatment plans
- Dispenses medications from in-house formulary, when appropriate; otherwise, electronically transmit prescriptions to pharmacies
- Reviews case histories from outside providers and specialists and enters information in EMR
- Provides continuing, comprehensive health maintenance and medical care to the entire family unit, to include preventive medicine and community health
- Performs minor surgery, e.g. laceration repair, skin biopsy, lesion removals
- Determines need for consultation with specialists and assists in medical care treatment provided at the direction of other specialists
- Completes documentation of patient information in the EMR with sufficient completeness to assure continuity of care where more than one provider may be involved in the patient’s care
- Provide clinic oversight (including oversight of NP/PAs) and Administrative functions.

Requirements:
- MD/DO- Family Practice or Internal Medicine (with Pediatrics) Physician
- Medical license to practice in CA
- Current DEA registration
- Conversational Spanish preferred
- Must be able to treat patients of all ages
Schedule:
- Part time or full time
- Negotiable on days worked
- No weekend office hours
- No Call
Salary (range):
- $110-$125/hr
