Stead Family Department of Pediatrics
The Stead Family Department of Pediatrics seeks a Neonatologist at the rank of Associate (non track), Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor (tenure or non-tenure/clinical track). The individual selected will join the Division of Neonatology to provide patient care, teaching, and consultative services as a Neonatologist. Candidates with experience in the domains of neonatal transport, neuro-critical care or neonatal hemodynamics are strongly encouraged to apply.
Must hold an MD/DO degree, or equivalent
Board certified or eligible in Pediatrics, or equivalent
Board certified or eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, or equivalent
License or eligible for licensure in the State of Iowa
Clinical experience in neonatology, including ECMO
Additional training in neonatal transport, neonatal neuro-critical care, or neonatal hemodynamics
Experience in patient-oriented research
Teaching competence in pediatrics for medical students and residents
Evidence of scholarly activity
Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
The Division of Neonatology at the Stead Family Department of Pediatrics is a nationally ranked program in the U.S. News and World Report, member site of the Neonatal Research Network and has a sustained track record of clinical and scientific excellence. The recently established Neonatal Hemodynamics Program is regarded as the leader in the field. The division is committed to becoming one of the country’s leading program with plans for further expansion including the establishment of a neonatal neuro-critical care program.

The U.S. News and World Report research ranking places the College 13th among public institutions for 2018, and the Stead Family Department of Pediatrics ranked 27th overall and 13th in NIH funding among all public pediatric departments nationwide in FY17. The ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program at the Children’s Hospital trains 47 pediatric residents.
The Stead Family Department of Pediatrics comprises the medical and research staff of University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, one of the nation’s top-ranked pediatric care and research institutions. It is the only university-affiliated hospital in Iowa devoted solely to the care of infants, children, adolescents and young adults, and is Iowa’s only accredited Level 1 Regional Resource Pediatric Trauma Center. In 2018-19 University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital ranked in four pediatric specialties in the Best Children’s Hospitals U.S. News and World Report, including cancer, neonatology, nephrology, and orthopedics, and is the only hospital in Iowa to be nationally ranked by U.S. News and World Report for children’s care. A new 190-bed children’s hospital opened in February 2017.
