Department of Ophthalmology is seeking a licensed optometrist to serve as Hospitalist to join expanding ophthalmology program. This is a unique opportunity to provide first-line optometric care and urgent and non-urgent eye consultations in a 900-bed, level 1 trauma facility. Residency training in ocular disease preferred. Candidates with an interest in practicing optometry in an academic setting are encouraged to apply. The Medical Center is a tertiary referral center with a large population of patients with complex ophthalmic pathology. The Department of Ophthalmology is hiring providers of all specialties for a robust multi-specialty practice and plans to develop a teaching program on-site. There is a large hospital based and local optometrist and ophthalmologist-based referral network with few other retina specialists in the community. Full-time back-up by fellowship trained ophthalmologists. Responsibilities will include triaging and managing non-surgical injuries and conditions.
