Job Summary: 

The Pediatrician provides patient-centered quality health care to children and adolescents within a community-based setting and strives to improve general health and well-being through prevention, education and treatment. Activities involve direct patient care, physical assessment, diagnosis and treatment, provision of preventive care, referral for specialty services as needed and follow-up. Will devote professional services to the benefit of BRMC and seek to incorporate all clinical activities into the practice of the BRMC. The Pediatrician and BRMC will negotiate any agreement for clinical practice outside of the BRMC, providing such practice does not interfere with provider's obligations to the Center. May be assigned to special projects such as primary care/mental health integration or to a satellite site. Demonstrates a sincere dedication and loyalty to the mission, vision and core values of BRMC.

Essential Job Duties & Functions:

1. Provides medical services to pediatric patients of BRMC.  Such services are provided primarily at the BRMC facility in Colleen, Virginia, but will include services at other locations within its service areas from time to time as agreed by BRMC and the Pediatrician.
2. Provides clinical oversight and consultation for all pediatric services offered at BRMC, including the services of school nurses.
3. Performs duties faithfully, to the best of his/her ability, and in accordance with the standards of ethics and professional conduct applicable to physicians.
4. Observes and complies with the organizational structure as adopted by BRMC Board of Directors.
5. Maintains and updates medical records on BRMC pediatric patients.
6. Takes an active role in promotion and development of the practice in such activities as are found mutually agreeable to the Pediatrician and BRMC as communicated by the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Medical Officer.
7. Responsible for teaching nurse practitioner students, medical students, and other student as designated.
8. Works together with practice team to care for patient, offering direction to the team and education to the team to improve patient outcomes and team performance.
9. Takes on other responsibilities and tasks as designated and agreed upon by the Chief Medical Officer and/or Chief Executive Officer.  

Qualifications

1. Successful completion of four years of medical school and residency in an accredited program.
2. Must be a Physician and board certified in Pediatrics in Virginia. 
3. Experience in an outpatient clinical setting, preferably a primary care practice, desired.
4. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and strong oral and written communication skills.
5. Experience with information technology, electronic health records, culturally diverse populations and care of underserved populations.
6. Bilingual in English/Spanish strongly preferred.

Working Conditions:

1. This position is a FLSA Exempt position which may require work in excess of 40 hours per week. Work hours are Monday through Friday during variable hours of clinical operations which includes some Saturdays and possible on-call coverage to meet the Center’s needs and accomplish the duties of this position.
2. Comply with and set example of compliance with BRMC’s policies/procedures/practices; comply with legal requirements for non-profit organizations.
3. Perform and complete duties under stress and demands from different sources, and meeting strict deadlines.
4. Tolerate prolonged computer related exposure.  Able to sit or stand at a workstation for long periods of time.
5. May be exposed to hostile or emotional clients, family members, and staff, as well as disturbing or sensitive information
6. May be exposed to infectious diseases and medical waste.
