Pediatric Cardiologist - Adult Congenital Heart Disease Specialist

Stead Family Department of Pediatrics

The Stead Family Department of Pediatrics seeks a cardiologist with expertise in adult congenital heart disease at the rank of Associate (non track), Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor (tenure or non-tenure track).  The individual selected will join the Division of Cardiology to provide patient care, teaching, and consultative services as a congenital heart disease specialist.  Patient care will occur at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital and affiliated community sites.

Requirements:

Must hold an MD/DO degree, or equivalent

Board certified or eligible in Pediatrics, or equivalent

Board certified or eligible in Pediatric Cardiology, or equivalent

Subspecialty fellowship training in Adult Congenital Heart Disease

License or eligible for licensure in the State of Iowa

Commitment to diversity in the workplace

Desirable qualifications:

3 years experience in the management of adults with congenital heart disease

Experience in patient-oriented research

Teaching competence in pediatrics for medical students and residents

Evidence of scholarly activity

Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new programs

Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

The Stead Family Department of Pediatrics comprises the medical and research staff of UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital.  University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital is one of the nation’s top-ranked pediatric care and research institutions. It is the only university-affiliated hospital in Iowa devoted solely to the care of infants, children, adolescents and young adults, and is Iowa’s only accredited Level 1 Regional Resource Pediatric Trauma Center.  In 2016-17 University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital ranked in eight pediatric specialties in the Best Children’s Hospitals U.S. News and World Report, including cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, neonatology, nephrology, orthopedics, pulmonology, and urology, and is the only hospital in Iowa to be nationally ranked by U.S. News and World Report for children’s care. A new 189-bed children’s hospital opened in February 2017.
