Major/Essential Functions

  • Mentors faculty, residents, and medical students
  • Engages in and promotes scholarship and quality improvement initiatives within the Division and the Department
  • Fosters a culture of collaboration access service lines (trauma, pediatric surgery, pediatric emergency medicine) to care for critically ill patients
  • Provides comprehensive care for seriously ill newborns, infants children, and adolescents or those needing a high level of monitoring in a pediatric intensive care unit
  • Supervises medical students, residents, and advanced practice professionals in the hospital setting
  • Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and scholarship
  • Services the academic community through participation in institutional governance such as committee work
  • Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complimentary to the institutional mission
  • Ensures compliance with HIPPAA and billing regulations
  • Demonstrate Professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility

Required Qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O. degree, or foreign equivalent
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatrics Residency Program
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program
  • Texas medical license, or eligibility for licensure in the State of Texas
  • Board Certification in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics
  • A record of scholarly achievement in pediatric critical care medicine
  • Emerging regional or national professional reputation for rank of associate professor or higher
  • Training or experience managing patients on extracorporeal life support and in trauma, neurological, and cardiac critical care
  • Experience with the education of medical students and residents
