Job Description

Better Health for All

County of Santa Clara Health System (CSCHS), a large public teaching healthcare system, affiliated with Stanford University School of Medicine, is seeking a BC/BE radiation oncologist physician, to join our dynamic practice in our Department of Radiation Oncology.

About the organization

County of Santa Clara Health System (CSCHS) is the second-largest County-owned health and hospital system in California and is committed to improving the health of the 1.9 million people of Santa Clara County. Santa Clara Valley Healthcare (SCVH), an agency of CSCHS, is comprised of three hospitals:  (Login for Information) (SCVMC - a 731-bed central hospital), O’Connor Hospital (OCH - 358 licensed beds), and Saint Louise Regional Hospital (SLRH – 93 licensed beds).  In addition CSCHS includes a large primary care network comprised of eleven health centers throughout the County, several urgent care clinics, a broad-range of specialty services in our Valley Specialty Center, comprehensive dental services, a large behavioral health department, public health, EMS, and Valley Health Plan.

SCVMC itself hosts four residency and one fellowship training programs and partners with Stanford University Medical Center for the training of residents and fellows in many Stanford-based specialties.  SCVMC also features a Level 1 Trauma Center, Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, ABA verified Burn Center, Primary Stroke Center, and a nationally recognized CARF-accredited Rehabilitation Center.

Providers in our health system also have the opportunity to use our integrated electronic health record (Epic), which brings together system-wide patient information.

About the Department

The department includes two vaults equipped with a Varian TrueBeam and a Varian Trilogy (the latter to be replaced in 2024); a GE Lightspeed RT CT simulator (upgrade planned for 2024); on-site PET/CT simulation; and advanced treatment technologies including SABR/SBRT, SRS, respiratory motion management, and HDR brachytherapy for gynecologic patients.

The team includes three radiation oncologists, two medical physicists, a dosimetrist, six radiation therapists, and a clinic team of three nurses, one medical assistant, a nurse navigator, and a nurse practitioner.  The practice has applied for APEx accreditation and expects to achieve accreditation this summer.  We serve as a training site for the Stanford Radiation Oncology residency program.  There are also opportunities for resident and medical student teaching through our hospital’s internal residency training programs and established collaboration with Stanford School of Medicine.

The department is a part of the Sobrato Cancer Center at SCVMC.  Co-located within the Cancer Center are Medical Oncology, GYN oncology, Palliative Care, Cancer Genetics, and Specialty Pharmacy colleagues, as well as a 21-chair infusion center with an on-site infusion pharmacy.  Supportive services on-site include medical social workers, dieticians, a psychologist, and additional oncology nurse navigators.  The department enjoys excellent collaboration with a wide range of medical specialists, diagnostic and interventional radiologists, surgical subspecialties (breast surgery, thoracic surgery, ENT, orthopedic oncology, among others), and a strong internal network of primary care physicians.

We treated over 450 patients in 2022 and are looking for a motivated individual to join our team as we work to serve patients throughout our health system.  The successful candidate is BC/BE in Radiation Oncology and has experience with VMAT/IGRT, SABR, SRS, and HDR brachytherapy.  The ideal candidate would be available to start work immediately upon completion of credentialing.  Experience with EPIC-based EMR is a plus.

About the Position

The successful candidate will have Fluoroscopy Supervisor Certificate and experience with IMRT, SABR, SRS, HDR brachytherapy.

About Compensation and Benefits

We offer competitive compensation, generous comprehensive benefit package (including 54 days of leave per year and 5 CME days), paid malpractice (with tail coverage), vibrant professional environment, opportunity for career growth, and the opportunity to serve a multicultural patient population.

If you are interested in joining a practice with unparalleled personal and professional advantages, then please submit your letter of interest and CV to Roya Rousta at (Login for Information).
