The Opportunity
The Chief Medical Officer serves as the senior clinical executive and strategic partner to the CEO and Board. The CMO will champion clinical quality, physician alignment, operational excellence, and evidence-based care across a multi-specialty platform.
This leader will help ensure Summit remains a premier independent medical group while navigating the evolving healthcare landscape.
Key Areas of Leadership
Clinical Strategy & Quality
- Drive system-wide clinical quality initiatives and patient safety standards
- Champion evidence-based practice and performance improvement
- Lead quality committees and clinical governance structures
- Advance population health and value-based care strategies
Physician Engagement & Culture
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and trust
- Strengthen physician leadership development
- Address burnout and enhance provider satisfaction
- Align clinical performance with organizational goals
Operational & Strategic Partnership
- Partner with executive leadership on growth initiatives and service line strategy
- Support payer relationships and value-based contracting efforts
- Align clinical operations across multiple specialties and locations
- Integrate technology and innovation into clinical workflows
Clinical Presence
- Maintain limited clinical practice to ensure credibility and frontline engagement
The Ideal Candidate
- MD or DO (Board Certified), Tennessee licensure or eligible
- 10+ years of clinical experience; 5+ years in progressive physician leadership
- Demonstrated success in quality improvement and multi-site operations
- Experience in value-based care, population health, and physician alignment
- Collaborative, mission-driven, and operationally astute leader
