Position Overview
Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) is the Department of Defense’s only Level I Trauma Center and the U.S. Army’s premier medical institution. We are seeking full-time Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) to join the Trauma & Critical Care Service, providing inpatient and ICU-based care for trauma patients.
Providers are assigned to the Trauma ICU and trauma inpatient services, with responsibility for trauma patients from admission through hospitalization.

Providers respond to trauma activations when patients arrive, but do not staff or cover the Emergency Department.
Key Responsibilities

Manage critically ill trauma patients in the ICU and inpatient trauma units

Perform comprehensive assessments, daily rounds, and ongoing clinical management

Respond to trauma activations and assist with initial resuscitation, then assume inpatient care

Order, interpret, and document labs, imaging, and diagnostic studies

Perform procedures within scope of practice and granted privileges

Collaborate closely with trauma surgeons, intensivists, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams

Participate in care planning, discharge coordination, and continuity of care

Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with DoD and facility standards

Support trauma program initiatives, quality improvement, and patient safety efforts

Requirements
-
Active NP or PA license in any U.S. state

Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program

Must have a minimum of 1 Year of experience in Intensive Care/Critical Care

Board Certification

U.S. citizenship required
