Job Description
- Level One Trauma Center
- Academic Teaching for TTUHSC El Paso

Major/Essential Functions:
- Supervises residents and medical students in a clinical setting
- Provides performance evaluations, skill testing, and mentoring of residents, fellows, and medical students
- Participates in resident and faculty recruitment
- Attends and participates in morbidity-mortality and journal clubs
- Provides patient care in the Emergency Department
- Serves as medical control physician for El Paso EMS while on duty in the Emergency Department
- Participates in national emergency medicine societies such as ACEP, SAEM, AAEM
- Participates in medical research projects relating to emergency medicine
- Participates in medical school and hospital committees
- Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship
- Assists the Department Chair with the implementation of departmental policies and monitoring staffing effectiveness
- Participates in chart audits and other clinical performance improvement efforts
- Serves the academic community through participation in institutional governance such as committee work, emergency medicine professional organizations, and other administrative duties
- Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures
- Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission
- Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations
- Upholds and promotes the values-based culture of TTUHSC El Paso
- Demonstrates professionalism in accordance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with education of residents and medical students
- Evidence or growth in clinical, teaching and research activities related to the specialty
- ACLS/PALS/ATLS certifications
- Board certification in emergency medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine for the rank of assistant professor or higher
- Established or emerging regionalor national reputation for the rank of associate professor or higher
- Knowledge of Medical Spanish
Required Qualifications:
- M.D. or D.O. degree
- Successful completion of ACGME-accredited residency program in emergency medicine
- Texas medical license or eligible for medical licensure in the State of Texas
