A highly respected tribal health system in the Pacific Northwest is seeking a mission-driven Medical Director (MD/DO) to lead an integrative primary care clinic serving a local tribal community. Position Overview
The Medical Director provides both clinical care and operational leadership within a well-established outpatient clinic. You’ll oversee a compassionate, high-performing group that includes:
- 2 PAs/NPs
- 5 Medical Assistants
- Director of Therapy & Rehabilitation
- Expanding integrative services (naturopathic, chiropractic, acupuncture support desired)
This role is ideal for a physician who values relationship-based medicine, team leadership, and honoring tribal community wellness practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care (~15 patients/day) with an emphasis on quality over volume
- Serve as clinical leader for the primary care team, supporting cohesive, whole-person care
- Oversee clinical quality initiatives, care coordination, and team workflows
- Partner with administrative leadership to support program development and operational improvements
- Participate in an integrative, holistic model of care aligned with tribal community values
- Collaborate closely with tribal leadership during the hiring, onboarding, and approval processes
Schedule & Workload
- Four 10s
- Clinic hours: 7am–5pm, Monday–Friday
- No call, nights, or weekends
- Flexible appointment lengths to support thorough, relationship-centered care
- Clinic is fully closed during the last two weeks of December (with one weekly medication-processing day)
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual Salary: $245,000

The outgoing Medical Director will remain part-time to ensure a smooth transition and provide mentorship.

- Indian Preference applies in accordance with federal and tribal law
- Tribal work permit required (includes background and psycho-evaluation related to gaming/casino regulations)
- Standard credentialing + tribal compliance processes
- Candidates with prior tribal/IHS/CHS experience are encouraged, though not required
