Gastroenterologist Physician Locums Job in Central Alabama | Seeking 24-Hour Call + Scope Coverage in September & December 2026
Jackson and Coker’s valued Alabama client is seeking to add one Gastroenterologist to provide 24-hour call coverage, including scheduled weekday scopes, during September and December 2026.
Dates of Coverage:
-- 7am 9/9 – 7am 9/14 (Wednesday – Monday)
-- 7am 9/21 – 7am 9/25 (Monday-Friday)
-- 7am 12/21 – 7am 12/24 (Monday-Thursday)
-- 7am 12/28 – 7am 01/04/2027 (Monday – Monday)
Schedule Details:
* Endo-suite: Monday–Friday, typically 7AM–1/2PM, completing 10–14 colonoscopies/day with efficient, well-coordinated support staff that preps patients so you can move directly between cases.
* After-hours / Weekend Call: After endo-suite, physician covers the ED, manages emergent procedures, new consults, and completes rounding as needed.
* Seeking candidates with an Active Alabama license or IMLC + Active Board Certification
* Fellowship preferred; ERCP/EUS not required.
* Team Structure: Two GIs on site (clinic + hospital) working alongside you while on call. No inpatient APP support.
* Procedures: Primarily EGD, colonoscopy, and motility (advanced motility skills not required).
* Case Expectations: Must be comfortable completing 10+ endo cases/day.
* Daily Rate Requirement: Facility requires minimum 6 hours included in the daily rate (most days run 6–10 hours).
* Rounding: Averages 3–4 hours/day with 1–2 callbacks/day afterward.
* Daily Volume: Total of 13–17 patients/day, including scopes, rounding, new admissions, and consults.
* Facility: 150+ beds, non-trauma, Cerner EMR inpatient and G-Gastro in the endo-suite.
