Contract Length: 1 + 4 base years
Work Schedule: weekdays, Monday to Friday
Position Overview:
We Are Currently Seeking A Highly Skilled And Compassionate Gastroenterologist (Contract Physician) To Join The Department of Veterans Affairs WNY Healthcare System. The Gastroenterologist Will Provide Comprehensive Gastroenterology Services Including Diagnostic And Therapeutic Procedures, Consultations, And Patient Education To Our Veteran Population. This Role Requires Clinical Excellence, Integrity, And A Strong Commitment To The Highest Standards Of Patient Care And Federal Healthcare Compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Provide Comprehensive Gastroenterology Clinical And Procedural Care To Veterans.
- Perform Diagnostic And Therapeutic Procedures Including:
Colonoscopy (Diagnostic, Biopsy, Ablation, Snare, Bleeding Control, Via Colostomy). - Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) (Diagnostic, Biopsy, Lesion Removal, Dilation, Bleeding Control).
- Flexible Sigmoidoscopy With Biopsy/Snare/Ablation/Bleeding Control.
- Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) Tube Replacements.
- Conduct Outpatient And Inpatient Gastroenterology Consultations.
- Complete All Consultations And Procedures Within 30 Days Of The Request Date.
- Provide Patient Education, Discharge Instructions, And Follow-Up Planning.
- Comply With All VA Policies On Medication Use (No Sample Medications Permitted).
- Document All Patient Encounters In The VA Electronic Health Record (EHR) System.
- Participate In Quality Improvement Activities, Peer Review, And Department Meetings As Required.
- Maintain Compliance With HIPAA, VA Privacy Act, And VHA Documentation Standards.
- Notify The Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) Of Any Performance Barriers Monthly.
- Adhere To The Contingency Plan To Ensure Continuity Of Care In Case Of Absence.
Required Qualifications:
- Doctor Of Medicine (M.D.) Or Doctor Of Osteopathy (D.O.) From An Accredited Institution.
- Board Certified Or Board Eligible In Gastroenterology.
Active, Unrestricted Medical License In The United States. - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) And Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certifications.
- Strong Clinical Skills With Demonstrated Experience In Gastrointestinal Procedures.
- Ability To Deliver High-Quality, Evidence-Based, And Patient-Centered Care.
- Familiarity With VA Or Federal Healthcare Systems Preferred..
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary Range: $285 – $290 Per Hour
