Gastroenterologist (GI) Opportunity – San Antonio, Texas
University Health

Position Type: Full-time, Employed (W2)

University Health in San Antonio, Texas is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Gastroenterologist to join our growing team. This role is primarily outpatient, providing an excellent opportunity to build a robust clinic practice and develop long-term patient relationships. With the upcoming expansion of our community hospital services, providers will participate in a shared call rotation (anticipated 1:4), contributing to a growing, team-oriented program.

Role Highlights:

  • Monday–Friday schedule
  • General gastroenterology practice in a predominantly outpatient setting (clinic + procedure days)
  • Procedures performed at Ambulatory Surgery Centers
  • Procedures up to three days per week in the endoscopy suite
  • Employed hospitalists handle all admissions, rounding and discharges
  • Three highly trained advanced endoscopists, three general GI physicians and 5 APPs on staff
  • Long term goal is to establish a Gastroenterology & Advanced Endoscopy Institute
  • Practice based at one primary clinic location
  • Strong internal referral network from 80+ primary care providers across 32+ clinical sites
  • Access to robust institutional resources and support.
  • Opportunity to teach medical students and residents

Call Expectations:

  • Minimal call requirements anticipated
  • Light call schedule (approximately 1:4 expected once new community hospitals open in 2027)
  • Call responsibilities will primarily support newly expanded community hospital operations
