Job Description
McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston), a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), non-tenure research Instructor/Assistant Professor position in the Department of Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology Research Center.
The selected candidate will contribute to the department’s mission to educate health science professionals, discover and translate advances in the biomedical and social sciences, and model the best practices in clinical care and public health through research, teaching, clinical service, administrative activities, and other services.
Position Key Accountabilities:
- Conducting research studies focused on gastrointestinal diseases.
- Designing experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and interpreting results.
- Collaborating with other researchers, clinicians, and industry partners to conduct research, develop novel treatments and interventions, etc.
- Publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at conferences
- Contributing to grant writing and securing funding for research projects.
- Mentoring graduate students, medical students, and junior researchers.
Qualifications:
- PhD in a relevant field.
- Strong background in a relevant research field, with a track record of publications and presentations.
- Experience with experimental design, data collection, and statistical analysis.
- Proficiency in relevant research methods and techniques, such as biomechanical testing, imaging, and molecular biology.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced research environment.
Prior experience in grant writing and securing research funding is required. We offer excellent facilities, including an imaging facility, generous start-up funds, and comprehensive administrative and operational support. Salaries will be commensurate with qualifications and per the University's pay scales.
