Job Description

Position Summary:
We are excited to announce a position opening for a full-time Pediatric Palliative Care Physician at (Login for Information) Children's Health in Wilmington, DE.

We are looking for a skilled team builder, an effective teacher, and an outstanding clinician with both excellent communication and interpersonal skills and expertise in pain and symptom management. Qualified candidates will have experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team and with medically complex conditions, including direct provision of end-of-life care.

The position reports to the Division Chief of Palliative Medicine and the successful candidate will be part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team within the Department of Pediatrics.

The Division provides inpatient, ambulatory, and home hospice oversight care and is home to a well-established and well-respected pediatric hospice and palliative medicine fellowship. A faculty appointment consistent with the level of academic achievement will be provided at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. All levels of experience, including recent fellowship graduates who are board-eligible, will be considered.

Kery Responsibilities:

  • Provide interdisciplinary consultation services, facilitate discussion and clarification of patient and family goals of care, and collaborate with the primary care team and community agencies throughout a child's disease trajectory.
  • Share in the on-call responsibilities of the service.
  • Participate in the team's educational efforts with trainees and medical staff in all areas of pediatric palliative care, including but not limited to appropriate pain and symptom management, grief, and interdisciplinary approaches to caring for children and families facing serious illness.
  • Assist in educational, research and advocacy efforts for children with complex chronic and/or life-threatening conditions.

Qualifications:
  • MD, DO or equivalent clinical doctoral degree from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an ACGME Accredited Pediatric Residency Program and a Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program
  • Board Certification in Pediatric Medicine and Board Eligibility/ Certification in Palliative Medicine
  • Eligibility to obtain valid DEA and Medical licensure in the state of Delaware
  • An academic record commensurate with appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or full Professor
