The (Login for Information) Cardiac Center at the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware, is seeking a mid- to senior-level Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join our expanding program. The candidate will join a collaborative team of two pediatric cardiac surgeons and an adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) surgeon within a high-acuity, tertiary care center with continued programmatic growth.

This position offers the opportunity to participate in the full spectrum of pediatric and congenital cardiac surgery, with a supportive environment that fosters continued clinical development, mentorship, and progressive autonomy aligned with experience. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the role provides meaningful opportunities for engagement in program development, quality and outcomes initiatives, and leadership within the division and broader Cardiac Center.

(Login for Information) Cardiac Center is seeking candidates to join a nationally recognized pediatric cardiac program known for delivering comprehensive, high-acuity care through a highly collaborative, integrated team model. The center brings together cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, intensivists, cardiologists, specialized nursing, and ancillary staff to provide seamless care for children with heart disease across a 12-bed CICU, 18-bed cardiac step-down unit, dedicated cardiac OR, advanced cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology labs, and peri-operative recovery suite. Requirements:

  • MD, DO or equivalent clinical doctoral degree from an accredited medical school
  • Eligibility to obtain valid DEA and Medical licensure in the state of Delaware
  • An academic record commensurate with appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or full Professor
  • Board Certified following an ACGME approved Cardiac Surgery training program and sub-specialty certification in Congenital Cardiac Surgery
  • Demonstrate additional capabilities or interests neonatal and complex reconstructive surgery
  • Active involvement in clinical, translational, basic, or outcomes research is highly desirable.
  • The applicant will be expected to participate actively in the teaching of students, residents, and fellows.
