Opportunity Awaits, Apply Today! - Primary Care Physician
The Primary Care Physician role at Oregon State Hospital (OSH) – Salem offers a unique opportunity to provide comprehensive ambulatory medical care within a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment dedicated to patient-centered behavioral health treatment. This position is instrumental in ensuring patients receive high-quality general medical services, both through the onsite medical clinic and directly within inpatient units. The physician serves as a key medical resource, collaborating with psychiatrists, unit staff, and other healthcare professionals to address the complex health needs of a diverse patient population.

In addition, the physician engages directly with patients' families and external agencies to support continuity of care and optimize treatment outcomes.
Professional responsibilities include active participation in hospital committees, departmental meetings, and ongoing training, reflecting OSH’s commitment to excellence in care and continual professional development. Physicians in this role also contribute to hospital support functions, including serving as the medical officer of the day (OD) on a rotating basis, which involves limited weekend and holiday coverage. Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Family or Internal Medicine, hold or be eligible for Oregon medical licensure, and have completed an accredited residency. Both MDs and DOs are welcome to apply for this meaningful and multifaceted role in public service medicine.
