Job Description

Louisville, KY area facility
seeking an Inpatient Hospice and Palliative Medicine Physician 
--Schedule: Monday-Friday during the day, with some on-call nights and weekends
--Lead a team of providers, including two nurse practitioners and a social worker.
--Provides leadership and oversight to inpatient palliative care team at assigned primary site.
--Demonstrates clinical expertise in hospice and palliative medicine.
--Maintains current state-of-the-art knowledge and skills in palliative medicine.
--Provides medical consultation to hospice IDGs through attending regular care planning meetings.
--Supports 24/7 medical coverage for hospice patients by participating in regular rotation in the inpatient and/or general on-call schedules.
--Maintains accurate medical records and completes them in a timely manner.
--Presents at and participates in Medical Staff meetings on a regular basis.
--Provides palliative consult and hospice attending patient care services, including medically necessary visits with appropriate documentation, coding and billing capture, medical orders, prescriptions, family meetings, and coordination of care in the assigned inpatient location.
--Participates in assigned on-call rotations for urgent orders, prescriptions and telephone consultations, in addition to weekend inpatient call shifts as assigned.
--Performs and documents certifications and recertifications in full compliance with Medicare regulations.
--Provides education to physicians, allied health care providers and general public in the community.
--Participates in education, performance improvement, outreach and leadership activities, at the discretion of the Medical Director.
--Participates in educating medical students, residents, and fellows.
--Provides education to staff through informal consultations and educational offerings.
--Provides outreach to physicians and other healthcare providers.
--Makes direct contact and performs service recovery with physicians who have complaints or misunderstandings regarding palliative and hospice care.
--Competitive salary and bonus opportunity - 10% annual bonus + additional bonus eligibility for their on-call rotation (around $25k)
--Required: Board Certified or Board Eligible Hospice and Palliative Medicine, IN license, DEA, CSR, fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine or a minimum of 2 years of post-residency medical experience required.
--Additional licensure in Kentucky is a plus
