TITLE:

Hospitalist

DUTIES:

Provide adult-only inpatient Internal Medicine care in hospital. Attend to patients admitted from referring Primary Care Physicians (PCP), emergency room and/or consultative patient care in the hospital. Refer patients to specialists, patient care components identified by patient as deemed appropriate. Direct patient care activities of nursing and support staff. Prescribe medications, and treatment. Comply with all Medicare/Medicaid guidelines. Participate in health promotion, education, prevention programs, and hospital committees. Follow departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, adhere to safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards. Attend daily multidisciplinary rounds. Respond to Rapid Response Team and Code Blue Calls during shift. Communicate with PCP on patient’s admission and discharge sending a copy of the admission H&P and discharge summary to the PCP. Prepare discharge summary (CC PCP) listing the patient’s medical conditions, discharge medications, and follow up instructions indicating when patient requires transfer. Meet family members upon request updating family regularly regarding patient’s progress. Complete all pertinent charting, orders and notes in a timely manner. Write daily progress notes on each patient on service. Ensure quality care following Tidelands Health Care reporting relationships.

SALARY:

$119,080 - $305,550 per year

SCHEDULE:

9:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday

REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a Doctor of Medicine Degree or foreign degree equivalent and must be either (i) board certified and maintain board certification in Internal Medicine by the AOBIM/ABIM or (ii) board eligible, actively pursue board certification, and become board certified in Internal Medicine by the AOBIM/ABIM within five (5) years of completion of last training. Family Medicine is acceptable with appropriate training and/or experience in inpatient medicine as determined by the Medical Director. Must be ACLS certified. Must have a valid and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of South Carolina. Must have a valid DEA Certificate and Registration Number.
