(Login for Information)

National Institutes of Health

Department of Health and Human Services

Tenure-Track Investigator

Laboratory of Immunoregulation

The (Login for Information) (NIAID), one of the largest institutes of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and part of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), conducts and supports a global program of research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases. The Laboratory of Immunoregulation in the Division of Intramural Research within NIAID seeks an outstanding scientist to serve as a basic or clinical tenure-track investigator conducting research on HIV and related diseases in Bethesda, Maryland.

The Laboratory of Immunoregulation (LIR) conducts cutting-edge translational research on HIV and related diseases including research on prevention and remission strategies, comorbidities and aging, spanning from basic retrovirology to cellular and clinical immunology, animal and organoid models, as well as early phase interventional or cohort clinical trials with strong emphasis on a bench to bedside approach. See more information about LIR: (Login for Information).

The selected candidate will be expected to direct a vigorous, independent translational research program on HIV and related diseases in one of the following research areas: virology, immunology, pathogenesis, animal and/or organoid models, or novel therapeutics development. Independent resources are committed to the position, including space, support personnel, and an annual budget for services, supplies, and salaries. Facilities at existing NIAID international sites in Africa and Asia may also be available to the incumbent.

The incumbent will have access to dedicated technical cores within NIAID in areas such as advanced imaging, flow cytometry, and genomics. Although sufficient support is provided for a strong research program, investigators and trainees are also eligible to apply for additional funding from sources such as NIH internal grants, non-governmental research foundations, or partnerships with industry.

Qualifications

Required

  • A doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent) in a relevant field

The preferred candidates will have a strong publication record demonstrating potential for independent creative research and a strong mentorship record.

Appointees may be a US citizen, Legal Permanent Resident or non-US citizen who are eligible for a valid work authorization. Relocation expense allowances are authorized and may be paid in accordance with agency policy. If relocation expense allowances are paid, employees will be required to sign a one-year service agreement.

Salary will be commensurate with experience. A full civil service package of benefits may be available.

This position is subject to a background investigation.
