The selected candidate will contribute to the department’s mission to strive to improve the quality of healthcare through excellence in the education of students, physicians, and the public; through advancement of biomedical knowledge through discovery, integration, and translation to the clinical setting; and the provision of comprehensive, compassionate, and accessible patient care.
Position Key Accountabilities:
The faculty in the Division of Infectious Diseases will primarily provide inpatient infectious diseases consultation service and outpatient infectious diseases clinics at our affiliated hospitals. Responsibilities also include teaching medical students, internal medicine residents, and/or infectious disease fellows. This position is intended for a physician-scientist with the appropriate qualifications and experience, who either holds funded research or is in the process of procuring funded research in an area of infectious diseases. Areas of particular interest encompass basic science, vaccine or molecular methodology, and the division is committed to supporting the development of a comprehensive research program. Clinical duties will focus on general infectious diseases, with additional exposure to transplant and surgical infectious diseases services.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO
- Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License
- Board certification in Internal Medicine and board certification or eligibility in infectious diseases are required with a minimum of 2 (two) years of infectious diseases fellowship training
