Job Description

The Client is a non-profit, mission-driven healthcare organization based in North Carolina that provides hospice, palliative care, and home-based services. The organization focuses on value-based care and supports patients across the continuum, including home-based primary care through its House Calls practice and dementia care through the Medicare GUIDE program

They are seeking a Senior Medical Director to join their executive team as the senior clinical executive over their House Calls practice and Medicare GUIDE program. The senior clinical executive is the member of the leadership team responsible for setting the overall clinical direction of the House Calls practice and Medicare GUIDE dementia care program. This role ensures clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and evidence-based practice standards while driving measurable performance outcomes. The role operates within a dyad leadership model in partnership with the Chief Operating Officer, sharing accountability for quality, growth, financial performance, and regulatory readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set clinical direction for House Calls and GUIDE programs
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and evidence-based standards
  • Oversee clinical quality, outcomes, and performance metrics
  • Interpret and update clinical protocols and care pathways
  • Provide supervision for NPs and Client per regulatory standards
  • Oversee prescribing practices and compliance standards
  • Participate in leadership strategy, program growth, and planning
  • Educate stakeholders and support value-based care initiatives

Clinical vs. Administrative Split:

  • ~60% direct patient care (3 days clinical)
  • ~40% leadership, strategy, and oversight

Education / Certification:

  • MD or DO required
  • Active North Carolina medical license 
  • CPR certification required

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in chronic and terminal patient care
  • Experience working with geriatric or frail populations preferred
  • Experience collaborating with senior leadership and stakeholders
