The Program Director (PD) leads all operations of the (Login for Information) Internal Medicine Residency Program at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center. The PD oversees resident education and clinical training while ensuring compliance with ACGME, ABIM, ACP, The Joint Commission, and (Login for Information) standards. This is a full-time 1.0 FTE role (.7 administrative / .3 clinical).
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership

Provide strategic direction for recruitment, education, evaluation, and retention of residents

Oversee faculty appointments, performance, and development

Lead resident recruitment, interview process, and NRMP rank list submission

Manage program budget, GME funding, grants, and fiscal oversight

Chair and serve on key committees (GMEC, CCC, PEC)

Advocate for the program within (Login for Information) and represent it regionally and nationally
Teaching & Mentorship

Oversee curriculum development and educational quality

Teach and precept residents and medical students in inpatient, ICU, and outpatient settings
-
Lead didactics, morning report, faculty development, and quality improvement initiatives

Provide coaching and remediation support for residents
Clinical Care
-
Provide direct patient care in inpatient and/or outpatient settings

Participate in appropriate call, supervision, and coverage responsibilities
Qualifications
-
Minimum 3 years of educational and administrative experience in GME
-
Experience acceptable to the ACGME Internal Medicine Review Committee

Active clinical practice
-
Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills
-
Current California medical license
-
Board Certified in Internal Medicine
