Clinical Director of Adult Medicine

Lead Adult Medicine in a Mission-Driven Health Center

Location: Hartford, CT

(Login for Information) seeks a dedicated Clinical Director of Adult Medicine to join our partner, a leading medical center in Hartford, CT. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing adult medicine services, driving quality patient care, and contributing to the strategic goals of the organization.

Position Overview:

The Clinical Director of Adult Medicine will provide clinical and administrative leadership for the adult medicine department. The successful candidate will be a skilled physician leader committed to delivering high-quality, efficient care, particularly to underserved populations with complex needs. This role involves supervising providers, managing clinical operations, ensuring compliance, fostering a collaborative environment, and contributing to strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical leadership and oversight for Adult Medicine services.
  • Supervise and mentor clinical providers, including physicians and advanced practitioners (APRNs, Client).
  • Oversee provider recruitment, onboarding, retention, and performance management processes.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor clinical protocols, policies, and procedures to ensure high-quality patient care and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Champion a culture of continuous quality improvement, teamwork, collaboration, and patient safety within the department.
  • Participate actively in developing and implementing departmental strategic goals and direction.
  • Collaborate with administrative staff, other clinical leaders, and external partners to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Utilize data analysis and evidence-based practices to make informed decisions regarding clinical care and operations.
  • Ensure understanding and implementation of ongoing professional practice evaluation (OPPE) and other quality metrics.
  • Maintain proficiency with the electronic health record (EHR) system and other relevant technologies.
  • Serve as a clinical expert and resource regarding compliance issues within adult medicine.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Certification: Graduate of an accredited medical school (MD/DO) (Required); Board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine (Required).
  • Experience: Relevant clinical experience delivering high-quality patient care, particularly to underserved populations (Required); Relevant business/leadership experience (e.g., Director, Associate Director), preferably in a large health center or private practice setting (Required); Experience supervising advanced practitioners (APRNs, Client) (Required); Experience with provider recruitment, onboarding, retention, and performance management (Required); Experience developing strategic goals and contributing to enterprise-level projects (Required).
  • Skills & Knowledge: Ability to deliver high-quality, efficient care; Familiarity with relevant clinical compliance issues; Ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and collaboration; Strong quality focus; Superior communication and relationship-building skills; Aptitude for data analysis and evidence-based decision-making; EHR proficiency; Strong initiative, judgment, problem-solving skills, and accountability; Alignment with organizational mission and values (Required).
