Primary Care Physician – Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center, Augusta, GA 

Category: Non-Exempt | Healthcare | Physician Services 
Contract Type: Independent Contractor (1099) 
Shift: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM | ~40 hrs/week 
Location: Augusta, Georgia

We are seeking a Primary Care Physician for a well-supported VA outpatient clinic in Augusta, Georgia. This position offers steady weekly income, flexible long-term stability, and an excellent quality-of-life schedule without inpatient duties or call coverage.

Schedule & Work Expectations 

  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (no nights) 

  • Approximately 40 hours per week

  • Start date: Anticipated assignment beginning July 2026 

Patient Population & Care Setting 

  • Population: Adult and Geriatric Veterans 

  • Care Model: Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) 

  • Clinical Environment Includes: 

  • Outpatient Primary Care Clinic 

  • Preventive and Chronic Disease Management 

  • Telehealth and Virtual Care Services 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Deliver comprehensive primary care

  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, COPD) 

  • Perform preventive screenings and routine health maintenance 

  • Conduct mental health screenings and coordinate specialty referrals 

  • Lead care coordination within the PACT team model 

  • Educate patients on lifestyle modifications and disease prevention strategies 

  • Address geriatric care needs, including fall risk and cognitive concerns 

  • Provide care through both in-person and telehealth modalities 

  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the VA electronic health record (EHR) 

  • Review inpatient admissions and ensure proper clinical handoffs 

  • Adhere to all VA policies related to patient safety, infection control, and compliance 

  • Participate in staff meetings, peer reviews, and quality improvement initiatives 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Active, unrestricted U.S. Physician License (any state license honored) 

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine OR Family Practice

  • Eligibility for and successful completion of VA credentialing and privileging 

  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and documentation skills 

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
