Williamsburg is a picturesque and historical city on the Virginia Peninsula, close to the Chesapeake Bay. The city is family friendly and has a lot to offer both young professionals, both single and those with families. The housing prices are a little higher than some of the neighboring cities, but in Williamsburg you will find numerous gated communities surrounded by golf courses and beautiful trails. The median home price is around $400k, however if you prefer more luxurious living, the $700k+ price range will offer you much more than other major markets in the country.
Some of the best public and private schools in the state can be found in Williamsburg. The local public school system is ranked 8th in the state. The city is noted as an incredibly safe city to live and work. The night life is a little on the lighter side, so you won’t find nightclubs on every corner downtown but there is plenty to do throughout the city.
Living in Williamsburg you get the benefit of all four seasons. Of course, the winter months are mild and an occasional snowflake or two make it to the ground. The weather won’t keep you indoors. There are miles and miles of hiking and biking trails. The Virginia Capital Trail is one of the longest in the state at 52 miles. Additionally, there is an abundance of top-rated golf courses, and the beach scene is just a short drive.
