Job Description
East Tennessee State University’s Quillen College of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is seeking applicants for a full-time Academic OB/GYN Generalist.
The physician will provide a combination of inpatient and outpatient clinical care, including telehealth services and in-hospital labor and delivery coverage. The physician will also have opportunities to work closely with OB/GYN subspecialists in the care of patients across a broad range of women’s health needs.
A key component of this position includes teaching and mentorship of medical students and resident physicians through clinical instruction, bedside teaching, and didactic engagement. Faculty-attendings contribute to the academic mission of the department through participation in educational activities and collaborative learning environments.
Additionally, there are meaningful opportunities to engage in research and scholarly work, including clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, and translational research in collaboration with university-based basic science investigators. Participation in departmental, hospital, and university committees is encouraged as part of the academic mission.
Outpatient clinical services are based across multiple sites, including a single, multi-specialty clinical education building located across from Johnson City Medical Center, as well as additional outpatient practice locations in the nearby community of Elizabethton, Tennessee. Johnson City Medical Center serves as the primary inpatient site and is a designated tertiary care and Level I Trauma Center, as well as part of Tennessee’s regional perinatal care network. The clinical service area includes Northeast Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, Northwest North Carolina, and Southeast Kentucky.

Required Qualifications
- MD or DO degree
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in OB/GYN at the time of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous OB/GYN hospitalist or clinical experience
- Demonstrated interest and/or experience in women’s health.
