Surgical Oncologist Locums Job | 1-3 Weeks of Coverage Each Month Starting 2026 | New Mexico 

Jackson and Coker is partnered with a facility in northern New Mexico that needs a Surgical Oncologist for locums coverage support starting in early 2026. The client is seeking between 1-3 weeks (7-21 days) per month of coverage starting in late January/early February to work alongside of their employed Surgeon until a 2nd permanent Physician is hired. This opportunity requires flexible candidates willing to provide weekday outpatient / clinic coverage & night/weekend call coverage (to include patient rounding, emergent procedures, etc.). 

Anticipated schedule:
* Seeking 1-3 weeks/month starting in late January or early February 2026 & ongoing through August 2026 minimally 
* Will be on call while working in the clinic + also be needed for night call coverage once clinic is finished (night & weekend call will be at a 1:2 rotation)
* Weekday schedule can be 5 8-hour days or 4 10 hour days

-- Open to candidates that will need an NM license (will be required to have one for assignment) as well as NM DEA+CSR
-- General Surgery Board Certification required
-- Ideal candidates would have a Surgical Oncology and/or Hepatobiliary Fellowship training 
-- Seeking physicians with a clean malpractice history if possible
-- Credentialing timeline is approximately ~45 days 
-- Hospital & clinic are attached / on the same campus 
-- Clinic call also includes any surgical cases from the week that have any urgent/emergent situations (during and after hours) 
-- Inpatient volume is generally 2-3 consults/day
-- Support staff: Will work alongside of 1 other Oncology Surgeon (no inpatient APP support staff)
-- Most complex cases will be sent to Albuquerque  
-- Facility details: 150+ bed facility, Epic EMR, level III trauma designation, 1 hour drive to Albuquerque
