Job Description
Facility seeking an Ophthalmologist
--Monday–Friday, 8:00a–5:00p
--Alternate option: 7:30a–5:30p with one day off every other week
--Hospital call: 1:5 weeks (moving to 1:7), 30 min beeper response, rare callbacks
--The physician will provide comprehensive ophthalmology services with some focus on cataracts and broad clinical practice.
--The role includes both clinic and surgical responsibilities, supported by advanced diagnostic technology and subspecialty colleagues.
--Physicians work closely with optometrists, ER (lots of ER referrals), and primary care to ensure collaborative patient care.
--Good mix of staff, some new 5-6 years out of fellowship and some close to retirement.
--80% clinic, 20% OR
--300 to 500 cataract cases annually (bread and butter)
--Expect the latest generation of equipment which is all very modern.
--No structured teaching responsibilities. Some informal
--You can get a lot of Diagnostic testing here
--They have lots of assistants, techs and physician partners.
--Expect to see less patients than in private practice.
--There is a new building the team will be working in
--Expect to get a lot more tools and modalities than private practice.
--Team: 3 general ophthalmologists, 2 retina specialists, and 1 glaucoma specialist
Compensation and Benefits:
--Sign-on Bonus - $220,000 (forgiven over 7 year)
--0.5 units per call back (for Cash or PTO)
--Annual incentives ($8K–$12K)
--Shareholder bonus after 3 years (usually $12K–$15K/yr and max is $20K)
--PSLF Eligible
--Home Loan Program: 10% of the purchase up to $250K with interest covered for 10 years
--Pension Plan on Base and Bonuses (5-year vesting) 2 % per year for 20 years and 1 % per year after that.
--You can earn up to 50% of your average income paid during your retirement.
--401(k) Salary Deferral Plan (employee-directed contributions)
--Total PTO: 4–6 weeks depending on tenure includes holidays
--CME: $5,000 and 1 week annually
